Committing to an ethical digital approach
How can we make a commitment when there are so few standards regulating the digital world in a systemic way? Every digital player has the opportunity to develop their skills and ethical values. Here’s how Spade does it.
Spade’s major commitments
Signatory of the Sustainable IT Charter
Piloted by the Institute for Sustainable IT, this text commits its signatories to evaluate themselves and try to improve continuously on digital responsibility. Spade signed the Charter in November 2021. In particular, it has enabled the agency to put in place a concrete quality approach. The commitments are grouped under 5 headings: environment, accessibility, ethics, resilience and values.
Position ourselves on the GR491
The Handbook of Sustainable Design of Digital Services (GR491) provides a framework for all organisations wishing to make a commitment to this issue and take action to make digital services more responsible. It currently comprises 61 recommendations and 516 criteria divided into 8 families. At the beginning of 2023, we undertook to assess the agency’s services against the 61 recommendations and to put in place a continuous improvement plan.
Anysurfer labelled service provider
This is a Belgian quality label certifying that a website complies with web accessibility rules (WCAG 2.1 level A, AA or AAA). Spade has been an Anysurfer-recognised service provider since 2013, which means that the agency has proven its ability and competence in producing accessible websites. There are currently 11 recognised agencies in French-speaking Belgium.
The 3 pillars in practice
Spade has developed an in-depth analysis of its digital practices based on the 3 pillars of sustainable development (taken up by the GR491).
